The Love Like Lopez Foundation was created to celebrate the incredible legacy of Coach J. Omar Lopez—a devoted husband, father, son, brother, friend, teacher, and coach. Known for his boundless positivity and unwavering kindness, Coach Lopez brought out the best in everyone around him, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. Though his life was cut short, his spirit continues to shine.

In his honor, Coach Lopez’s family has turned their grief into action, channeling their love and energy to uplift children and young adults. Through this foundation, they are committed to inspiring, encouraging, and spreading the same warmth and compassion that defined Coach Lopez. Empowering Youth
"The Love Like Lopez Foundation is dedicated to empowering students in our community by raising funds for scholarships for graduating seniors and providing support for extracurricular expenses to empower our youth and provide opportunities and experiences that otherwise may not be had. We believe that financial barriers should never limit a child's opportunities for growth, education, or personal development. Our mission is to create equal access to opportunities, helping every child reach their full potential."

Community Partnerships
We've partnered with the Law Office of Nick Sisoian "The LLC Guy" and the Keep Kids Moving program to recognize and empower local kids by sponsoring registration fees and related extracurricular needs.

Become a Recipient...
Extracurricular Grants
Our foundation, in partnership with the Keep Kids Moving Program, provides monthly grants to assist youth in our community with the costs of registration fees and supplies for extracurricular activities. Parents are welcome to nominate their own child(ren), or a family member or friend may nominate a deserving recipient. Each month, the number and amount of grants awarded are determined by the contributions of our generous donors. We strive to maximize the impact of these donations by supporting as many eligible applicants as possible.

Post High School Scholarships
Our foundation awards scholarships annually at the end of the school year to support local graduating students in pursuing post-secondary education. These scholarships can be applied toward expenses for college, trade schools, or vocational programs. To be considered, students must complete the application process through the New Braunfels Community Foundation.​
